Telecommunications

Southwestern Bell Telephone serves the North Little Rock area with advanced telecommunications technology. The entire area is served by electronic and digital central office switching equipment. High quality, high capacity digital data service can be provided throughout the city. Fiberoptic technology is in place and can be extended to the majority of the metropolitan area. Many companies including U.S. Sprint, MCI, AT&T, ITI, ITT, Telesphere, L.D.D.S. and TMC of Arkansas provide long distance service in the North Little Rock area.

Arkansas led the five Southwestern Bell states for the sixth consecutive year in service performnace. This record is made even more meaningful considering that data from the Federal Communications Commission rates Southwestern Bell the best of all regional operating companies in customer service. This record reflects the outstanding caliber of the employees Bell is able to find here in central Arkansas. The business offices, staffed with 225 employees who handle inquiries of all types from customers, consistently surpass the other divisions in the areas of sales, service, and productivity.

Fiber Optics

North Little Rock provides a long list of fiber-optic capabilities. The Little Rock/North Little Rock metro area is served by 13 digital switching centers. Local distribution facilities include the following:

  • Bandwidth available for all voice, data and video applications

Twenty-four-hour repair service is available with a two-hour dispatch commitment, and emergency power is available during commercial power outages. Theres been no major central office failure during the last five years.

Wireless telephone service is provided by Southwestern Bell Wireless, Alltel Mobile and Sprint. Major telecommunications users include US Bank, Dillards, Heritage Press, LOreal, Arkansas Best Freight and J.B. Hunt Trucking.

Internet Access

Internet service providers are numerous and offer a varied menu of connectivity. Most of Little Rock is serviced by a Wifi network as well as

  • Cable Internet by Comcast
  • Dialup by a number of ISPs
